सुख say it out loud now... "Sue-Ka"
Sukha is a Sanskrit and Pāli word that is often translated as “happiness", "ease" or "pleasure". We like to think of it as all three.

In this workshop, we'll explore how to rally the core abdominal and pelvic floor muscles to create space and support our practice in backbends and forward bends.

In the yoga tradition, it is said that there is always 3/4 more to reality than what we see or experience. We will explore the more that is present and available to us right no by using two tried and true strategies: taking the familiar, what you know intimately, and making it strange and wondrous by approaching it in a new way; and taking the truly unfamiliar, and bringing it into the realm of your experience, by practice and repetition. This all levels workshop will offer a taste of all classes of asana, including standing poses, inversions, arm balances, backbends, and hip openers.

For the class at Sukha you may pay online as well to save time!

Be The Change Film Night: Blood of the Amazonbe-the-change

Thursday March 7th 7.00 - 9.0pm
Suggested Donation $10
Please email Gay Taaffe to RSVP
Prue Rankin Smith will share a film entitled Blood of the Amazon by Nicola Peel which looks at the damage inflicted by oil companies in Ecuador.

Blood of the Amazon is a new documentary by Nicola Peel, an environmental activist and film-maker who has spent time in Amazonian Ecuador looking at environmental damage at the hands of oil companies. She has also found time to institute some fixes herself: such as rainwater catchment schemes for families whose groundwater is contaminated, and a project using fungi as a cleansing agent for spills.

Here is a message from Prue Rankin Smith:

Having met Nicola a few months ago, I was so inspired by her and by this Film that I want to share it with you all.

Nicola is an Environmental Activist and Social Justice filmmaker. This film looks at the damage in Ecuador and Brazil at the hands of the oil companies both to its peoples and the planet. Through sharing this film she hopes to finally give a voice to these people of the Amazon Basin

Nicola is now back in the Amazon,  working with rainwater catchment schemes, creating buildings out of rubbish and plastic bottles and other solutions to the problems

She is a young woman who certainly walks her talk. Check her website http://eyesofgaia.com/

Hope to see you there,
Prue

January 2013 Circle Dancing

Dancing Together with Intention in Sacred Space

 DANCES OF THE HEART

Wednesday Jan 2nd 6.30 – 8.00pm

We begin with a special evening to welcome 2013 which will be slightly different to our normal format.

Friday Jan 4th 10.00 – 11.30am

Our new programme begins – a short introductory talk about Circle Dancing for newcomers and we move into some new dances and old favourites.

Wear light cotton clothes that are comfortable and loose – ladies often like to wear a skirt but not essential.  We will be dancing barefoot but if you need support you may wear a light rubber soled house shoe.

Bring a bottle of water, a small towel and a smile

All Love, Gay

More Info about Circle Dance

Circle Dance is not just a physical exercise; it works on the WHOLE person – on all levels of Being – clearing the emotions, calming the mind, strengthening the body.

Some dances we may call meditation in movement bringing quietness and serenity - other dances are energising, empowering or aerobic. They may honour Nature or bring Healing. Each 90 min session blends these forms of dance activating the Mind Body & Spirit. The Dances bring out our inner beauty but above all we move into a place of fun, joy and laughter.

The steps are VERY easy to learn and require no previous dance experience suiting all levels of physical fitness. No need to book – just turn up at the appointed time and join our Circle.
